The British Youth Band Association headed south to Daventry for the second contest of our 2017 season.
This was the Association’s first joint event with our friends at TYMBA and all there were in agreement that the day was a great success.
In their first BYBA appearance, Contest Class winners were Christ Church Ashton CLCGB showing that Bb Bugle Bands are still very much alive and kicking. Their show was pure excitement from beginning to end.
By way of a complete contrast, Championship Class winners Liberty Drum Corps presented their show ‘The Bench’ centred around a homeless person and the bench he calls home. Liberty’s show really connected with the audience and tugged at the heartstrings throughout.
Communications Chair Richard Haw said: “The day showed perfectly what BYBA stands for; an organisation that caters for all styles and abilities. It was great to be able to share the day with our friends from TYMBA, it really highlighted that we have a great deal in common and we look forward to working with them again in the future”
Our next contest is ‘Midlands Music in Motion’ on 10th September, taking place at its new venue – Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club.
