Barnsley Sea Cadet Band to compete at Music Revolution

On 14th June 2015 Barnsley Sea Cadet Band will take to the competition field for the first time at the BYBA Music Revolution contest.
Commanding Officer Caroline Devonport gives us an introduction to the band and an insight into their background….

Barnsley Sea Cadet band  originally started in March 2004, however after losing their bandmaster (due to work commitments) the band folded. Over the years, the band has had several attempts at starting again.

bscb2However in the Summer of 2014 it was decided to give band another go, initially just for one gala. Following the success of that Gala the band continued practicing hard, playing for shoppers in the run up to Christmas and had their first engagement in March 2015.

This summer sees them competing for the first time, and the second time just a week apart. The band has a busy summer planned performing most weekends at Galas around South Yorkshire.”
